Established in July 2001Simply Sport is now a leading provider of multi-sports coaching across the County Durham area. Working very closely with many schools, colleges, sports co-ordinators and sport centres we provide a wide and varied range of coaching activities and educational packages to children from reception years to final year 11.

Vacancy description

The opportunity to work alongside an experienced coach to gain experience in the planning, delivery and assessment of PE lessons in a primary school environment. Gaining the necessary skills and experience to allow independent delivery of PE and extra- curricular sports activities

Working alongside an experienced coach to support the delivery of PE sessions within a primary / nursery school setting

Planning and assessment of session to be delivered to meet the needs of the PE curriculum including the use of the “Core Tasks” scheme of work

Contributing to the delivery of extra-curricular activities including breakfast, lunch-time and after school clubs

Working with experienced staff to deliver sessions within holiday camps.

Completion of training to allow sessions to be delivered independently.

Desired qualifications

English and Maths GCSE Grade C/4-9 (or equivalent) preferable

Sports Leadership or Sport Coaching qualification preferable

(If you do not possess the qualifications already, you will be expected to work towards and achieve them in order to complete your apprenticeship)

Future prospects

Permanent employment with Simply Sport as a Physical Education Co-ordinator or Sports Coach.

Experience to support an application to university for a teaching qualification.

Working week

  • Monday – Friday 30 hours per week. Hours between 8.00am – 5.30pm
  • Total hours per week: 30

Weekly wage

  • £110.00

Things to consider

Paperwork tasks including planning and assessment of PE sessions,

Responsibilities required when working with children ages 3-11 of all abilities

Successful applicants will be required to have a clear Enhanced DBS certificate.

Travel will be required therefore own transport essential

Completion of NGB coaching qualification to level 2
